Elena Mebtahi – Lawyer in NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA

Avoid her services at all costs. I do not care what her personal website reviews are:-She's quick and slightly abrasive on the phone.-Her paralegal never mentions the $150 half hour sit-down to actually get a consultation even though that's never mentioned on the site and/or the phone call.-Elena's phone demeanor comes across as "I don't have time to listen, so on with it" type of attitude.-Major miscommunication. My suggestion is look for someone who is a good listener, doesn't nickle and dime you, and you don't feel rushed. "Listening" is KEY when it comes to any kind of legal issue. I'll stick with my original option, which was a little more expensive, but heck, they listen well and understand what I'm able to do, rights, etc.

Kesluk, Silverstein & Jacob – Lawyer in North Hollywood, CA

So, I called this firm, because I wanted to pursue a wrongful termination lawsuit. I had the misfortune of reaching attorney, Brian Kesluk. I looked past his rude and condescending tone, in order to describe my situation. He warmed up slightly after hearing what I had to say., and even sounded as if he was going to be helpful. He told me he was going to send me out their packet, and that I should call and make an appointment to meet with him once I received it. I called when it came, and the receptionist said I could not make an appointment. She said I had to complete the packet, return it to them, and once they reviewed it, they would call to set one up. The packet was immense and repetitive, and also required that I send all of the "evidence" I had against my former employer along with it. After spending a great deal of time getting it all together and filled out, I sent it in. Then…..nothing. After nearly 2 weeks, I began calling them to see what was happening. After about 3 days, I received a voicemail from Mr Kesluk stating. "Not enough evidence here to pursue your case. Call me back and let me know what you want me to do with all your stuff. If you want me to shred it, or get it back to you". I thought, "Oookay! Thanks for nothing". I called him back right away, and reached his voicemail. I told him please send my stuff back, because I needed it to pursue my case elsewhere. He didn't return my call. I called several more times over the next week to ten days, and since I kept getting sent to his voicemail, I left several more messages requesting my paperwork be returned. I also spoke to the receptionist twice, and asked her to have it returned to me. Wellllll, guess what? I never got ANY of it back, and I CERTAINLY did not get any return calls. If you feel like you have been wronged by someone to the point where you feel you need a lawyer, and are looking for any kind of compassion, understanding, or even a shred of helpfulness, DO NOT call this one! You will find none of those things!

Public Counsel – Lawyer in NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA

I never had the privilege of dealing with a lawyer though the intern was responsive and conscientious. But in the end they not only refused to send the demand letter saying it had to come from me but the letter they drafted was inaccurate and had to be revised, which they would not do as they terminated my case! So they suck, basically.a

I honestly have no idea who the people giving this place 5 stars are, but I'm sure they are either paid or fake reviews. We (my significant other and I) went to these people to have a couple of convictions expunged from her record. We explained to the lady doing the intake that she had two DUI convictions from 2007 I had that I filed expungements for both cases in the past and we only heard from one court denying the petition, but we had never heard from the other court. She explained to us that because it was multiple cases, that we would get a discount of 100 dollars. The regular price was 600 per case, so our grand total was 1,100 dollars for both.I asked her if that was with everything included and her reply to us was a definitive "YES." I told her that I was going to call the court we hadn't heard from to see what was the ruling on the petition and ask her how much it would be for only one case? Just in case the expungement had been approved. She said 600 dollars. Which is more expensive than what they list in their website. On their website it lists misdemeanor expungements for 450 dollars and DUI misdemeanor expungements for 550 dollars. I asked her why she was charging her 50 dollars more than listed on their site and she told me that the site had not been updated. This should had been our first red flag.During the initial interview she wanted to charge us another 200 dollars just to "investigate" the cases. I asked her why was that if we had a copy of the dispositions for both cases with us? It had everything they needed, plus we had the rest of the court file at home and I could get it for her. So she backed off from charging us that fee. Another red flag. Also, after studying the dispositions of both cases, the interviewer told us that she had violated probation and that was extra work, but she never told us that there would be an additional fee for that. In fact, before leaving the room I asked her one more time to confirm the priced for two or just one expungement. Again, she told me 1,100 for both or 600 for one. I asked her once more if everything was included, the final price, and she gave us another "yes." I told her I was going to call the court on my way to the bank and go back with either 1,100 or 600 depending on whether the petition was approved or not.On the way to the bank I called the court and was told that the expungement had been approved for the second case. Once we arrived back to their office, the price for one case had changed to nearly 800 dollars plus another 150 for the court. Hmm, I thought she had told us more then once that everything was already included.I complained and told them about the price quotes we had been given and we were then told that we had been given the wrong price. I showed the girl the paper the interviewer had given us with the prices written by hand by her. She took the paper to her supervisor who lowered the price, but not to the original agreed price. I was not going to pay it but my significant other decided to pay it just to get the case going and get it over with. It's amazing how they changed the price by 200 dollars between the time we left their office and came back from the back from the bank 20 minutes later. We paid the money and later received a welcome e-mail with the documentation. By the way, be aware that once they take your money all your interrelations with them is done online. They warn you that if you ask one too many questions they will charge you. Yes, I am being serious.A few days later after filling out the forms, on June 10th, we get an e-mail about new activity in the case and to log on to their web site to review the case. Surprise surprise, a message that they now want another 200 dollars because after reviewing the case they came to realization that she had violated probation. Hmm, but the girl during the interview realized that herself when she looked over the court documents we had. She was well aware of the probation violation. In fact, she is the one that brought it up. She even told us what type of probation she had been given. Yet, her hand written quote remained 1,100 for both cases or 600 for one case.I now regret doing business with this "law firm." There was many red flags and we chose to ignore them. We get what we deserve and take responsibility for it. I only wish that they would take responsibility for their mistakes too (quoting us the wrong price in writing). The case is still ongoing but now the account online says that we are past due for the 200 dollars and work on the case will stop unless we pay. I called and left a message for them to call us back and explain to us why we were being charged 200 dollars when they knew from the start that she had violated probation and to explain to me why we were not charge that money from the start? I left the message last week. Supposedly they return your calls within 48 hrs. Well, 48hrs have come and gone and we haven't heard from them.

Horrible attorney. He is a crook. He commingles your "retainer" and never bills you with accounting to his hours. He charges your credit card without your authorization. I went with him to the Beverly Hills BAR for fee arbitration, I am waiting for a favorable result. After I am done with fee arbitration then I will take this crook to the California BAR to take his license away forever. He is unethical and not a good human being.

THE WORSE SERVICE EVER!!! hired them for a simple speeding ticket. They said they would take care of everything, but failed miserably. They lost my case; I was found guilt of speeding, and have to do not only traffic school (which I don't mind) but wasted $199 for their terrible service, PLUS court costs of $461. They are a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!! You are better of going to court yourself then hiring these clowns.
